Rhamell Burke charged with murder after Ross Falzone killed in subway-stairs shove

A fatal shove down a subway stairway has prompted a murder charge and a city-ordered review of a hospital discharge, the New York Post reported. ^[1]

Mayor Zohran Mamdani said he was “horrified by the killing of Ross Falzone and the circumstances that led to it,” and directed NYC Health & Hospitals to conduct an investigation of Bellevue’s discharge of Rhamell Burke. ^[1]

Burke allegedly threw Falzone down subway steps in what was described as a shocking random attack in New York City. ^[1] Falzone suffered a severe head injury, and doctors later pronounced him dead at Bellevue Hospital. ^[1]

Police charged Burke — a 32-year-old former Broadway dancer — with murder. ^[1] He is being held without bail at Rikers Island. ^[1]

Burke was later spotted at Penn Station and arrested in connection with Falzone’s death. ^[1] The mayor’s direction to investigate the hospital discharge added a second official response to the case, alongside the criminal proceedings that followed the fatal shove. ^[1]
